Government Jobs/Jawatan Kosong Kerajaan

Looking for government jobs are very different compared to jobs in the private sector. There are many areas one can channel their applications to, however, one will find that it is not as easy and simple as applying for jobs in private companies.

To apply for a government job, the candidate should ideally be a local university graduate. Institutions like University Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia , Universiti Putra Malaysia, RISDA, JPA, Perbadanan Putrajaya, Pos Malaysia, Mara, DBKL, Telekom, Kastam, Jakim, KWSP, PDRM, LHDN, Jabatan Imigresen, JPJ, UPM, UMP, HUKM, Pos Malaysia, USM, Johordt, Kustem, Sirim, Kuittho, TUDM are examples. This type of landscape however has changed slightly over the years due to the scarcity of local graduates who opted to work with private companies.

There are many types of government jobs/jawatan kosong kerajaan available in the market. The highly specialized ones like doctors and teachers are mostly employed after graduating from Teaching School , or Nursing School . They will be posted by automatically through the related ministries and agencies, for instance the Ministry of Education(MOE). Benefits in the government agencies are commonly more competitive compared to being directly employed by the government which provides longer term benefits like pension and medical service.

As for the less specialized jobs, candidates can apply for positions with the area they prefer. This however depends heavily on the availability of jobs in the sector of the ministry. For instance, an Information Technology graduate could apply to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation or the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications as they both dwells into the IT Policy and Practices of the Government of Malaysia. A Business Graduate could apply to Ministry of International Trade and Industry, a Forestry graduate can be matched to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry.

On the other hand, candidates can also apply for jobs in the related agencies of Malaysia like the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation, Malaysian Multimedia and Communications Commission (MCMC), Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), or MIMOS Berhad which are Technologically centric government agencies, Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) an agency that purviews the Small and Medium Industries in Malaysia, and so on and so forth.

Jobs in the government sector does not commonly come by easily because they are scarce and turnover are mostly very low due to their benefits and remunerations. Employees engaged here mostly seek a long term insurance with the employer and the provision of these facilities are normally sufficient and stable.
